The Subversive Six – Hidden Risk Points in Your ICS

Wednesday, March 22, 2017 - 11:00 AM PDT

Industrial control systems (ICS) weren't originally designed to withstand modern insider and outsider threats. Internet connectivity, standardized IP communications and commercially off-the-shelf systems (COTS) are becoming the top vulnerability concerns for global ICS professionals, according to last year's SANS ICS security survey. As plant operations become more connected, legacy ICS systems running unprotected and well-known OS on old hardware are creating new hidden risks in previously secure OT environments.

Join Sean McBride (FireEye), David Meltzer (Tripwire) and Erik Schweigert (Tofino Security/Belden), as they examine six key weaknesses adversaries use to undermine plant operations, explain why they go undetected and give real-world examples with options for how to address them.

Attendees will learn:

  • Six highly common, but rarely considered, ICS risks
  • A risk-based approach for how to evaluate these for your environment
  • Guidance on what you can do about them
